This sextet was formed in late 2016, to perform the music of two titans of jazz – American McCoy Tyner and South African pianist and saxophonist Bheki Mseleku. The band came from the experience of working and touring with both Bheki and McCoy, which brings authenticity to the group’s music. Hexagonal has released a critically acclaimed debut album and has played to enthusiastic audiences at club and festival appearances including Love Supreme, Scarborough, and Herts festivals. With John Donaldson – piano, Greg Heath – tenor sax/flute, Rob Leake – alto/baritone sax, Sid Gauld – trumpet, Simon Thorpe – bass, Joe Edwards – drums.
